Lucidchart is Lucid's diagramming app, part of a suite with Lucidspark (whiteboards) and Lucidscale (cloud architecture from your cloud accounts). Lucid AI generates diagrams from prompts, and the Lucid MCP server lets assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude work with Lucid documents. CoPage is a workspace where AI agents build diagrams and decks and people review, check and sign off before anything reaches a client; its free CLI keeps diagrams on your computer.
At a glance
| CoPage | Lucidchart | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A workspace where agents build diagrams and decks and people review and sign off, plus a free local CLI for diagrams | A cloud diagramming app in Lucid's visual collaboration suite (with Lucidspark and Lucidscale) |
| Made for | Consulting, pre-sales and architecture teams; developers who keep diagrams in a repo | Teams across a company: flowcharts, org charts, ERDs, sequence and cloud architecture diagrams |
| AI agents and MCP | Works with the agents you already use: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and GitHub Copilot through the CLI or a local MCP server; Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients connect to the app. No AI of its own does the work | Lucid AI generates and edits diagrams from prompts; Process Agent asks follow-up questions while it builds a process diagram. The Lucid MCP server (connectors for ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Copilot, Cursor, Glean, Slackbot) searches, summarizes, creates, edits and shares documents |
| Editing agent work in place | The agent changes the same document in small, atomic edits, sees what people changed since its last edit and builds on it. One agent edits at a time, and a person can stop it | Lucid says its MCP server can edit existing Lucid documents |
| Review and sign-off | Comments for people or for your own agent, which makes the change and replies; history of who changed what, a person or an agent; versions from the last 30 days restored, ones marked with a status kept for good; people mark a document's status | Comments and tasks on the canvas; revision history with who made each change, and restoring earlier versions |
| Checks before the client | Built-in checks the agent runs and fixes. Diagrams: arrows attached, icons labelled, nothing stacked, no placeholders. Decks: packs such as Client-ready (personal data, one currency, hidden slides) | — |
| Official cloud icons | 3,000+ icons, offline: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and general | Lucid AI generates AWS, Azure and GCP architecture diagrams; Lucidscale builds diagrams from your AWS, Azure and GCP accounts |
| Decks and PowerPoint | Diagrams sit on slides and stay linked: fix one, and every slide that shows it updates. Native PowerPoint and PDF export | Presentation mode turns a document into slides inside Lucid; add-ins put Lucid diagrams in PowerPoint, Word and Excel |
| Local and offline | The free CLI keeps diagrams in .copage/ in your project, with no account; nothing is sent to us |
— |
| Pricing as published | CLI free; the app is in early access, by request; private deployments as pilots | A free plan and paid plans, listed on lucid.co/pricing |
When to choose Lucidchart
- Your company already works in Lucid, and diagrams, boards and cloud views should stay in one suite.
- You want architecture diagrams generated from live cloud accounts: Lucidscale imports AWS, Azure and GCP.
- You need many diagram types beyond architecture and process, org charts generated from data, and imports from Visio, Gliffy, draw.io and OmniGraffle.
- People who don't use coding agents should reach diagrams from ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot, with an MCP server run by Lucid.
When to choose CoPage
- The agent does the building, and you need to review its work the way you review a colleague's: comment on an area, the agent changes it, runs the checks and replies, and it keeps what you edited by hand.
- Nothing should reach a client before it passes your checks: leftover placeholders, personal data, mixed currencies, off-brand colors, loose arrows. The agent runs them and fixes what they find.
- The diagram belongs in a proposal: architecture and BPMN process diagrams sit on slides in your brand, stay linked, and the deck exports to native PowerPoint.
- Diagrams have to stay on your computer or in your repo: the CoPage CLI is free, needs no account and sends nothing to us.
Using them together
There's no direct integration. Lucidchart imports .drawio files, and CoPage exports diagrams as .drawio
(copage diagram export <id> file.drawio); Lucid's help says it imports draw.io files exported from draw.io,
and we haven't tested CoPage's files there.

Questions
Is CoPage an alternative to Lucidchart?
For architecture and process diagrams that AI agents draw for client work, yes: CoPage adds review by comment, checks the agent fixes and diagrams linked on proposal slides. For a company-wide visual workspace with whiteboards and cloud import, Lucid covers more.
Can I move my Lucidchart diagrams to CoPage?
Not directly: CoPage imports draw.io files, not Lucid documents. You can ask your agent to redraw a diagram in CoPage from an exported picture or a description, and check the result.
Does Lucid have an MCP server?
Yes. Lucid runs a remote MCP server, with connectors for ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, GitHub and VS Code Copilot, Cursor, Glean and Slackbot. It can search, summarize, create, edit and share Lucid documents.
Does CoPage work offline?
The CoPage CLI does: diagrams, icons, fonts and checks are on your computer. The CoPage app is a hosted service in early access, or a private deployment on your own infrastructure.
